The Collection
Luther King Theological Library has a vast collection with a particular focus on Contemporary, Practical, and Contextual Theologies. The Library is a rich resource for social studies relevant to Chaplaincy, attracting members from a wide range of disciplines.
Luther King’s collections have transformed with the college: our shelves are filled with the books of historic theological colleges, significant theologians, and aims to celebrate the rich heritage of ecumenical study in the North of England.
The Library also holds the personal libraries of religious thinkers and academic figures such as James Martineau (1805-1900), Herbert McLachlan (1876-1958), Thomas Raffles (1788-1863), and Alexander Maclaren (1826-1910). It is home to important religious tracts and writings from the 17th-18th centuries, emphasising our commitment to excellent theological resources.
