Tuition fee loans are available from the government for undergraduate and Masters students who have not studied at the same level previously, and means-tested maintenance loans are also available at undergraduate level.

Bursaries and Grants

Taught Degree Bursaries

Luther King is committed to making Christian education accessible to all. As a result, funding has been made available in the form of bursaries for our undergraduate and postgraduate academic programmes of study. These are available to both full-time and part-time students. The Bursary Committee has responsibility for considering all applications for bursary funding.

  • Bursaries are only available for self-financing students admitted to Luther King Theological College’s formal academic programmes of study and are means tested.
  • The bursary sums available are up to 15% of each module studied for credit at the weekend or midweek.
  • Bursaries will usually only be granted for tuition fees, and providing that the applicant can show they have applied for other public funds.

Hardship Funds

Luther King offers two additional bursaries for students facing hardship during the course of their studies:

The Rachel Jenkins Fund helps full-time and part-time students experiencing particular hardship with a grant of no more than £50.

There is also a small fund specifically to support students of Global Majority Heritage facing hardship during the course of their studies, particularly those from the Global South.

Requests should be directed to the President of Luther King.

Dyslexia Assessment

Students who are advised to have a dyslexia assessment, or who have obtained other evidence of dyslexia being diagnosed, may apply for a bursary to cover some of the cost involved in assessment. If approved, the payment is normally made direct to the qualified assessor. It is means tested in the same way, with a maximum sum of £200 being made available.
